Baby Group Classes

Baby Group Classes

Our Baby Milestone Group Class is run by a registered physiotherapist and centres around parent education on motor milestone development and progression, as well as common pediatric concerns.

What are Baby Groups?

Baby group classes are an accessible way to access physio services while also working on other issues that may present themselves! Motor Milestone classes are a weekly or bi-weekly opportunity for parents to connect, learn, and feel empowered to support their baby’s development. These classes take place over four to six sessions for babies and their caregivers to receive a little bit of 1:1 treatment and lots of education and general support to promote milestone development!

These classes are best for clients nearing the end of their treatment plans, families who came in for motor milestone assessments but didn’t require follow-ups, and families who are interested in physio but don’t have a specific concern! These classes are not offered at all of our KPG clinics, so we recommend contacting the clinic closest to you to see if it is offered!

How Do I Register for a Class?

The best thing to do is to contact the clinic closest to you by visiting kidsphysio.ca/locations. Your clinic will be able to help you register, give you details on their classes, and provide you with the cost, billing, and insurance information.

What Are Classes Like?

Each class generally begins with a 10-minute welcome period to allow caregivers to settle in, share updates, ask questions or review content. Sessions take place on a large mat, but feel free to bring a blanket for your baby to lie on! Sessions will involve education, hands-on exercises, and purposeful play with your child.

We provide a variety of toys and ensure the floors are kept clean for babies by having a no-shoe policy in the clinic. Following each session, you receive a digital copy of the exercise sheet we covered in class, along with additional instructions to guide you at home. If you miss a class, you'll still receive that week's sheet!

This changes slightly across clinics! The best thing for you to do is to contact the clinic you are interested in registering with for more information. You can find a list of our locations right here.

Yes, all clients will need an assessment before the first class. This could either be a full-length, regular assessment (highly recommended if you have a specific concern) or a 30-minute assessment where we review the intake form, birth history, and take a brief visual & subjective assessment.

It varies! Your clinic will have the best answer to these questions – but generally, you wil find them to be weekly or bi-weekly, 4-6 sessions long, and are usually the same day and time of the week every session.

These classes are physiotherapy classes and so may be covered by your insurance, but we cannot guarantee that! So, we recommend checking in with your insurance provider directly. We also do not offer direct billing for these classes.
