Ligament Sprains

KPG JumpingKid WHITE

Ligament sprains occur when the ligament is stretched beyond its capacity. Often, an accident that happens fast like rolling your ankle or a dislocation can cause sprains to the ligament.

Signs and Symptoms

A sprained ligament can be diagnosed by looking at the mechanism of injury, the area of pain, and by doing specific tests. Symptoms include:

  • Swelling local to the area
  • Some bruising might be present depending on the grade of the sprain
  • Pain in the area
  • Difficulties moving the joint or weight-bearing
  • Weakness in the area
  • Might have heard a ‘pop’ in the area
