What is CME?

Stands for Cuevas Medek Exercises
Developed by Ramon Cuevas in the 1970’s
Uses the influence of gravity and distal support to recruit muscle activation

Why CME?

A type of treatment technique that can be used which:

  • Gradually exposes the child to gravity through progressively more distal support
  • Aids in developing gross motor skills and evokes postural control
  • Provokes absent automatic motor responses
  • Integrates stretches into the exercises
  • Does not necessarily require the active participation of the child

Who Can Benefit?

Children from 3 months of age to approximately 8 years old or until independent walking is achieved
Appropriate for children with:

  • Delays in gross motor skills
  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Down Syndrome
