Yusra grew up in the Greater Toronto Area but after attending McMaster University for 6 years, she is no stranger to the Hamilton community. She graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Master’s degree in Physiotherapy. Throughout her undergraduate career, she gravitated towards courses about neuroanatomy and the human body, where she found a passion for healthy living and enabling independence. Growing up playing soccer, basketball, and tennis, Yusra’s childhood was very active. However, despite her own injuries, she had limited exposure to physiotherapy. This makes her even more passionate about empowering families with information on how physiotherapy can help kids of all backgrounds and abilities! Outside of academics, Yusra has always been passionate about engaging with her community. Her first experiences working with children were during summer camps and volunteering for non-profit organizations. She absolutely fell in love with her pediatric clinical placement and has since gained experience in both public hospital and private practice settings. Yusra is grateful to have been raised with 15 of her own cousins. She recognizes the importance of collaborating with families with the child at the heart of it all. There’s nothing like a kid’s smile after helping them accomplish a goal! She is passionate about promoting physical activity in fun, creative ways and advocating for all abilities. In her spare time, Yusra enjoys exploring hiking and waterfront trails, camping, and finding the best local restaurants. She also loves painting and baking new recipes!
