Katherine recently moved from Dublin, Ireland. Growing up beside the local pitches, the beach and having four brothers, she played various sports such as soccer, GAA, field hockey, tennis, rugby, trail running, swimming, kayaking, sailing, skiing. Having a fair share of injuries herself, she realized physiotherapy was the career for her. She joined up with the local Special Olympics Swimming team and volunteered for the next 10 years (even getting to go to LA, America to volunteer at the World Games). Teaching 1:1 swimming to the pediatrics with a variety of disabilities (such as CP, Spinal Bifida, ASD).
During her university degree, she was fortunate to do a placement at Crumlin University Hospital in the outpatient department. Working here with a wide range of conditions from sports injuries, Leg Length Discrepancies and Oncology conditions she realized she would like to work in pediatrics.
After finishing her degree, she joined up with the academy teams (13-18) of the League of Ireland Team Saint Patrick Athletics Club. Working closely with the four teams to ensure players were fit and ready to play. As she moved to a full-time job working in the adult population in the Mater University Hospital, she continued to work in an underage sports team with Clontarf Rugby Team and Saint Vincent’s GAA teams. Katherine is excited to combine these passions with the fun Kids Physio group! Katherine’s goal is to help kids have fun while building a strong foundation of movement skills to remain active for life!
