Chantelle was born and raised in South Africa, where she completed her schooling and obtained a 4-year BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from Stellenbosch University in 2008, with a special interest in pediatrics. She worked in the public sector and was a private practice owner and employer in Cape Town (South Africa) with a pediatric home visit practice and also provided in-hospital pediatric and ICU focussed physio services at multiple sites. She volunteered at school sporting events and pediatric outreach NPO’s in her community. From 2012-2019 she was the chair of the pediatrics group of the South African Society of Physiotherapy and served on the national executive committee and the continuous professional development committee. She has additional certifications in Hippotherapy and Lymphedema Therapy and has attended extensive post-graduate pediatric courses and workshops throughout her career.
Living and working in Canada has always been Chantelle’s dream, and 3-years ago that dream became a reality. As part of her journey to Canada, she obtained a post-graduate diploma in respiratory medicine from Cardiff University in Wales (UK) and worked as a clinic manager and private practice physiotherapist in Victoria. With a passion for helping people and making a difference in their lives, she transitioned back to the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic to support on the front line, where she has been working in the ICU as a physiotherapist at Royal Jubilee Hospital. She is an active UBC physio student preceptor and strongly believes in lifelong learning and continuous professional development. She is passionate about working with babies and kids of all ages, helping them on their journeys of discovery and recovery.
Chantelle enjoys spending time in nature and with animals, often immersing herself in creative arts, books, and music. She is excited to join Kids Physio and looks forward to contributing again to the pediatric physiotherapy community in Canada.
