Catherine grew up in Calgary, Alberta where she played many sports and spent most weekends exploring the mountains. She started her academic journey in the Bachelor of Kinesiology program at Acadia University in Nova Scotia. While attending Acadia, Catherine volunteered with the SMILE program (Sensory Motor Instructional Leadership Experience), which sparked a passion for studying child and infant development. Catherine ventured to Brisbane, Australia to undertake her Master of Physiotherapy Studies degree at the University of Queensland. Here she had the opportunity to work with children at an Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander school while she was on an indigenous health placement. After graduating in December 2016, Catherine moved to Busselton in Western Australia where she worked at a rural pediatric therapy clinic for a year. In 2018 Catherine started working at Kids Physio Group! She loves the active lifestyle that the west coast has to offer and is having so much fun working with the kids in Surrey each week.
Through her work in Australia and Canada, Catherine has gained experience providing physiotherapy to a variety of children with both common and rare pediatric disorders including; cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Developmental Coordination Disorder, Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, Perthes disease and others. In practice, Catherine focuses on family centred and play based therapy. She has experience incorporating therapeutic exercises into activities that are already a part of the child and family’s daily routine.
Catherine has completed the Complete Concussion Management certification course, Pediatric Level 1 course from the Australian Physiotherapy Association and is currently working on online courses through the Geneva Centre for Autism.
