About Alyssa

Born and raised in Newmarket, Ontario, Alyssa recently made the move to Vancouver to explore the beautiful west coast and start her dream career as a Paediatric Physiotherapist. Growing up she was heavily involved in competitive dance and sports including soccer, volleyball, and track and field. Alyssa was first introduced to physiotherapy in treatment for sport-related injuries and was inspired by the impact the physiotherapists had on young athletes. In high school, she taught dance classes for toddlers and children of all ages where she developed an appreciation for movement literacy, inclusion in sport, and physical activity for health promotion in children.

Alyssa attended the University of Western Ontario for both her undergraduate degree in Kinesiology and Master of Physical Therapy. She completed clinical placements in outpatient orthopaedics, acquired brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation, and paediatrics in both the public and private sectors. At her graduation, Alyssa received the Thames Valley Children’s Centre Book Prize Award for her aptitude in paediatric physiotherapy during her placement at Thames Valley Children’s Centre in London, Ontario.

While each of her placements provided unique learning opportunities, Alyssa absolutely loved her time in paediatrics and knew it would be the perfect fit for her following graduation. She is excited to learn from and work with kiddos of all ages and abilities to assist them in achieving their goals while having a lot of fun along the way!

In her spare time, you can find Alyssa staying active by playing recreational team sports, attending workout classes, hiking, and travelling. She also enjoys spending quality time with her friends, family, and mini goldendoodle, Sadie.
